
From September 11 to 13, 2009, representatives of the translation and interpreting sector will gather in Berlin to attend the international conference “Interpreting the Future - Challenges for Interpreters and Translators Arising from Globalisation”. It is being organised by the Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ), which is the largest association representing professional linguists in the German-speaking countries. Experts from a variety of fields will be meeting to exchange ideas, identify emerging developments and trends, and establish new contacts.
The speakers and participants, representing business, industry, institutions and education, are coming together to engage in discussion with interpreters and translation service providers. Representatives of European organisations have also registered for the event. The underlying purpose is to analyse current challenges and developments. The items on the agenda include new job profiles, changing customer requirements, quality management and new technologies. The conference programme also embraces a job exchange and trade exhibition.
